UWG § 5 Abs. 1
What does it mean?
The use of Öko-Test ratings such as "very good" is generally permissible, but is subject to the substantiation requirement under § 5 UWG. An isolated statement without a specific source citation may be deemed a misleading commercial practice. To avoid warning letters, it is necessary to specify the test magazine (with issue and date) and ideally provide a direct link to the complete test overview on the Öko-Test website. This enables consumers to verify the rating themselves and review the underlying criteria.
